CRIM0015It’s All Saints Day here in the Philippines. I am not sure how it is being called in other countries but in some I know it is Halloween. Here in the Philippines, it is the time of the year when we think and pray for our departed love ones. Most of us go to cemetery, visit tomb, offer some flowers , candles and prayers.

When you watch television, almost all of the movies are horror. I don’t know, it’s not suppose to be this way but All Saints Day are associated with ghosts and zombies.

So as a mother, I choose to take time remembering our departed love ones at teh same time have fun with Halloween. I don’t want my kids to miss a thing.

Here in our province, we usually cook rice cake during All Saints Day.  At around 6:00 p.m., most houses light candles outside the house. The numbers of candles being lighted represent the number of dead love ones. Then I let my kids wear costumes and play with their cousins.

This year, they did not wear mask. But I put them some makeup and make them look like zombies. They had a great time imitating zombies. I also didn’t work today. I spend most of the day helping in making flower arrangement that we will bring to my grandma’s tomb.

How about you? How did you celebrate All Saints Day… or whatever you call it.
